Albino buffalo 'Donald Trump' draws crowds in Bangladesh days before Eid sacrifice
Fame and a combover: Buffalo becomes social media star
An albino buffalo with a flowing blond mane has become an unlikely internet celebrity in Bangladesh.
Nicknamed “Donald Trump” for its signature hair, the 700kg animal draws crowds daily to a farm in Narayanganj.
Visitors snap photos of the bull’s pink-hued coat and blond combover tucked between curved horns — a rare sight due to albinism.
The owner says the buffalo enjoys four baths a day as its only luxury, but the constant attention has caused it to lose weight.
Eid al-Adha: Sacrifice tradition overshadows fame
Despite its viral fame, the “Donald Trump” buffalo is destined for sacrifice during Eid al-Adha later this month.
Bangladesh, a Muslim-majority nation of 170 million, will slaughter over 12 million livestock — goats, sheep, cows and buffaloes — for the holiday.
For many families, this is a rare chance to feast on meat. The owner acknowledges he will miss the animal but says sacrifice is the core spirit of Eid.
The buffalo’s stress from crowds has already forced restrictions on public viewing ahead of its fate.
From Trump to Neymar: Farm full of character-named bulls
The “Donald Trump” buffalo isn’t the only animal with a nickname at this Bangladesh farm.
Other residents include an aggressive bull called “Tufan”, a hefty one named “Fat Boy”, and a gentle-natured “Sweet Boy”.
One golden-haired bull was even dubbed after Brazilian footballer Neymar for his bleached-blond cut.
Owner Zia Uddin Mridha, 38, says his brother picked the Trump name purely for the hair — no political statement intended. The buffalo’s fame, however, has made it a national talking point before its final day.
